Brazilian Cultural Exchange Opportunity

 

Mount Lawley Senior High School is thrilled to present parents/carers with an extraordinary opportunity for our school and your family to participate in a rewarding NEW cultural exchange program. The Brazilian Government is sponsoring 100 exceptional students from Brazil to experience a semester in a Western Australian public high school, and we have been selected to host ten students.

These academically high-achieving Brazilian students, aged between 15-17 years, will join us for the first and second terms of 2024, totalling 23 weeks. They will enrol in Year 10 or Year 11, immersing themselves in our school and Australian culture.

However, for this unique program to succeed, we need your support. We are seeking approximately 10 families to open their hearts and homes to these students by providing accommodation. As host families, you will receive full assistance and guidance from our school and the Australian Homestay Network, Australia’s most experienced host family providers, which our school currently uses for our International students. You won't be doing this alone.

 

Key details:

• Hosting period - Term 1 and Term 2 of 2024 (23 weeks)
• Students' ages - 15-17 years
• Enrolling in - Year 10 or Year 11

 

Benefits for host families:

• Host families will receive financial support, approximately $340 per week for hosting a student
• You will play a crucial role in promoting cultural exchange and international understanding
• Your family will have a unique opportunity to learn about Brazilian culture and customs
• Lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories await as you create a bond with your hosted student

 

Requirements:

• Each student will need their own room in the host family's home
• Three meals daily
