Celebrating World Italian Language Week
On the 17 th of October 2016 parents, teachers, guests and students celebrated the 16 th World Italian Language Week at Mount Lawley Senior High School.
The topic was Italian Renaissance Art by Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) in Italian and English.
The delivery of the lesson enabled us to learn and understand Italian within a practical environment.
The main focus of the session was the Sistine Chapel (La Capella Sistina), which was painted by the renowned painter, sculptor, architect and poet Michelangelo.
The Sistine Chapel was transformed from its original design and interior to numerous buildings around it and a beautiful interior décor done by Michelangelo.
Out of the many scenes taken from the Bible which are depicted on the walls and ceiling of the chapel we focused on "The Creation of Adam".
We looked at the colours, clothing, body language of the scene and their meaning.
We would like to thank Aureliana Di Rollo, teacher from WAAPA and Ornella Volpicelli, Principal Consultant in Education from the Consulate of Italy Perth for the presentation.
We would also like to thank the Italian teachers for organising such an event.
