Our New David Helfgott Music Practice Room
Our music students shined at the opening ceremony of our new Music Practice Room, named in honour of David Helfgott.
The ceremony was a celebration of music and the life of an extraordinary artist and alumni of Mount Lawley SHS.
As the Master of Ceremonies, Trevor Jenkins, told the students present, "This would be a day to remember".
Music students performed two musical items, much to the joy and appreciation of all who attended.
Congratulations to our newly formed String Quartet - your years of practice and fine musicianship were admired by all.
Great work Annalise, Stephanie, Lorraine and Stephanie. The Quartet performed "Marche Militaire" by composer Franz Schubert
And to our Piano soloist, who held her nerve in the presence of genius and played magnificently. Well done Mei Lyn. Mei Lyn performed "Rain Drop" Prelude, by composer Frederic Chopin.
The student performances were followed by David dazzling the students with his performance.
His talent and infectious sense of joy captured the hearts of all that attended.
Students and special guests were certainly treated to a rare opportunity and will truly be remembered.
