Abseil for PMH - Mount Lawley Connection
During the weekend of the 15th to the 17th of November 2013, Year 11's Georgia12 and Rebecca, along with Mr Tipping were invited to assist in the running of the 2013 Abseil for PMH.
Not for the faint-hearted, this unique event allows those with a sense of adventure the opportunity to abseil down the 125m high Woodside Plaza building in Perth CBD while helping kids at PMH.
Terry Hewitt, the owner and operator of Adventure Out Australia has been working with the Outdoor Education Studies students at Mount Lawley all of last term.
He was so impressed by both the skill level and approach to the abseiling program at school that he invited both Bec and Georgia to assist in the running of the Abseil for PMH, which they grabbed with both hands.
The event took place at the Woodside Plaza, 240 St Georges Terrace, Perth.
All proceeds from Abseil for PMH will be used to help make it better for children and young people cared for at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children (PMH).
This year it successfully raised $371,229.82.
Terry commented that he was thoroughly impressed with the dedication and professionalism that our girls demonstrated, volunteering their time for near on 12hr shifts.
Congratulations to Rebecca and Georgia for being tremendous ambassadors for Mount Lawley and realising their potential in such a short period of time through their involvement in the Outdoor Education Studies course.
