Community Grant Competition
We Need Your Help!
The Baldja Maarakool Space is a project the school is undertaking to develop an area of the school as an Indigenous space.
As a part of this, we are 'competing' in a grant competition for $5,000 towards our project.
The funds go to the school who accumulate the most votes, so please add your vote at the CUA Community Care website.
A summary from our submission ...
- Lift the profile of indigenous culture in the school community
- Create a greater sense of belonging for indigenous students
- Connect the school community to indigenous culture and community
- Foster indigenous education opportunities with the school community
We would like to use the CUA grant to build the 'Baldja Maarakool' space in our school.
This will consist of a mural highlighting the importance of our indigenous culture. In front of this mural, we wish to construct an indigenous garden that displays various edible indigenous plants.
We believe that this space will help remind our students and teachers that indigenous culture is a valued part of our history; we are also aiming to ensure that our indigenous students feel that they have a place to leave their mark, and understand that they belong to a very wide and very caring community.
