Literacy & the Bicycle Repair Club
Literacy in the Middle School has been linked to bicycle repair. A number of bikes in various states of disrepair have been collected and ten enthusiastic students are endeavouring to repair them. The program has a literacy component which requires students to read instruction manuals and write reports about the bicycles they repair.
Anyone wishing to donate old bicycles, equipment and tools, bicycle products, or their expertise should email Frank.Camilleri@lawley.wa.edu.au
The Bike Club has been assisted by the school's Finance Committee; Joe Mazzarol, a former D&T teacher at Mt. Lawley SHS; the school's present D&T teacher, Mrs Julie Price; a local bicycle business, Cyclemania; and Vince Bertolini, a retired mechanic and busnessman.
