James Christou

Class of 1970

Architect

At school, James played in the cricket team and fondly recalls Mount Lawley's proud culture, brilliant teachers, and constant encouragement for every student to achieve their best. After graduating, he completed a Bachelor of Architecture at WAIT (now Curtin University) and, in 1985, founded CHRISTOU Design Group.

For over 40 years, James has led the firm to become a major force in Western Australian architecture, with award-winning projects including the Scarborough Beach Pool, St Hilda's Performing Arts Centre, Claremont Quarter, and Hillarys Boat Harbour.
